Oregon Hotline for Mental Health

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for 2019, approximately 19% of adults in Oregon reported experiencing a mental illness in the past year. Common mental health conditions include anxiety disorders, major depressive disorder, and substance use disorders.

Suicide is a serious concern related to mental health. In 2019, Oregon had a suicide rate of 19.6 per 100,000 population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Suicide rates can vary by age group, gender, and other factors.

Oregon has been working to improve access to mental health care services. The state has a network of community mental health centers, private therapists and counselors, and crisis hotlines. Efforts have been made to increase access through telehealth services, integrated care models, and school-based mental health programs.

Oregon offers various mental health resources to its residents. The Oregon Health Authority provides information and resources on mental health services and programs. Local community mental health centers, nonprofit organizations, and advocacy groups such as NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Oregon offer support, education, and resources.

Substance use disorders often co-occur with mental health conditions. Oregon has been addressing substance abuse issues, including opioids, through prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. Efforts include increasing access to medication-assisted treatment, implementing harm reduction strategies, and promoting community education.​
