Suicide is a serious concern related to mental health. In 2019, Nevada had a suicide rate of 24.4 per 100,000 population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Suicide rates can vary by age group, gender, and other factors.

Nevada faces challenges in terms of access to mental health care services. The state has a shortage of mental health professionals, particularly in rural areas. Efforts have been made to improve access through telehealth services and initiatives to expand the mental health workforce.

Nevada offers various mental health resources to its residents. The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health provides information and resources on mental health services and programs. Local community mental health centers, private therapists and counselors, and crisis hotlines are available throughout the state.

Substance use disorders often co-occur with mental health conditions. Nevada has been addressing substance abuse issues, including opioids and methamphetamine, through prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. Integrated approaches are being implemented to address both substance use and mental health concerns.
