New Jersey Hotline for Mental Health

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for 2019, approximately 18% of adults in New Jersey reported experiencing a mental illness in the past year. Common mental health conditions include anxiety disorders, major depressive disorder, and substance use disorders.

Suicide is a serious concern related to mental health. In 2019, New Jersey had a suicide rate of 8.4 per 100,000 population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Suicide rates can vary by age group, gender, and other factors.

New Jersey has been working to improve access to mental health care services. The state has a network of mental health clinics, community mental health centers, private therapists and counselors, and crisis hotlines. Initiatives have been implemented to address barriers to accessing care, such as expanding Medicaid coverage and increasing the availability of telehealth services.
