Utah Hotline for Mental Health
According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) for 2019, approximately 20% of adults in Utah reported experiencing a mental illness in the past year. Common mental health conditions include anxiety disorders, major depressive disorder, and substance use disorders.
Suicide is a serious concern related to mental health. In 2019, Utah had a suicide rate of 22.3 per 100,000 population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Suicide rates can vary by age group, gender, and other factors.
Utah has been working to improve access to mental health care services. The state has a network of community mental health centers, private therapists and counselors, and crisis hotlines. Efforts have been made to increase access through telehealth services, school-based mental health programs, and collaborations with primary care providers.
